Sanitary Sewer Project to Affect Traffic on Waverly Drive for Several Weeks

Monday, September 10, 2012

On Monday, Sept. 17, the Department of Public Utilities will begin a three-month project to replace sanitary sewer lines in the 200 block of Waverly Drive. The existing sanitary sewer lines have multiple defects and need to be replaced to ensure continued quality service to customers in the neighborhood.

For approximately six weeks during the initial construction, Waverly Drive, between Victoria Drive and Chester Avenue, will be closed to through traffic. Signs advising motorists of repairs will be posted during the road closure and a detour will be in place. Access to this portion of Waverly Drive will only be provided to city workers, emergency responders and neighborhood residents.

Repairs are expected to be completed by the first week of December, weather permitting.  For additional information, please contact Karen Phan, project manager with Virginia Beach Public Utilities, at (757) 385-1665.
