Sandler Center Art Gallery Hosts Old Dominion University Student Art Exhibition

Friday, May 15, 2015

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. —The Sandler Center for the Performing Arts will host an Old Dominion University Student Art Exhibition from May 20 to July 30.

The exhibition is comprised of work by students who participated in the 2015 Old Dominion University Undergraduate Research Symposium, which took place on the university’s campus in February. Each year, the Honors College hosts a research symposium at which the research activity of selected undergraduate students is showcased. Art is one of the symposium’s disciplines.

Faculty members provided assistance and mentored students. Faculty in each area of specialty within the art department were asked to select one to three students who have excelled at their work and are able to establish a research basis for what they do. Areas represented include drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and graphic design. The symposium is a great opportunity for the students to further advance their ideas while exposing their work to a larger audience.

The exhibit will be on view in the second and third floor lobbies from May 20 through July 30 during the Sandler Center’s normal operating hours: Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or during any performance at the Sandler Center. There will be a free artist reception held at the Sandler Center on May 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  The Art Gallery is on the second and third floors in the common areas of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts.
