Public Works to Close One Lane on Laskin Road Bridge Friday Morning

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Virginia Beach Public Works will be closing one westbound lane on Laskin Road across the Laskin Road Bridge on Friday, August 1, 2014, beginning at 9 am.  The section of road is between Birdneck Road and First Colonial Road (map attached).

The lane will be closed so that the crews can work on strengthening an outside structural member on the bridge.  Traffic will be permitted to cross the bridge, but will be reduced to one lane in the west bound direction.

The closure will remain in effect at least through the weekend, and possibly into next week.   All work is weather permitting.

The average daily traffic for this section of Laskin Road is approximately 28,000 vehicles (14,000 westbound).

This lane closure is likely to produce traffic delays, congestion and some construction noise. Advanced warning and detour signs will be clearly posted advising motorists of the lane closure. Citizens are urged to schedule their commutes accordingly to avoid delays.

For additional information or questions, contact Phillip Koetter with Public Works at (757) 385-1483.
