City Council to Meet Tuesday to Review Budget and Drainage

Thursday, April 24, 2014

The Virginia Beach City Council will meet Tuesday, April 29, at 3 p.m. to review the proposed budget and to hear a briefing on Shore Drive drainage.

The City Council normally does not meet on the fifth Tuesday of the month, but will do so next week because of unfinished budget business. The council is reviewing a proposed budget from City Manager James K. Spore. It will hold a public hearing on the budget May 1 at 6 p.m. at Kempsville High School. The council will hold a budget reconciliation workshop on May 6, then vote on the budget May 13.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the City Council will hear budget presentations from several city departments. The Public Works Department also will brief the council on proposed solutions to chronic flooding in the eastern Shore Drive area.

The meeting will be held in the City Council’s conference room, on the second floor of City Hall, 2401 Courthouse Drive.
