Youth invited to the Virginia Squires’ Basketballology Clinic

Those in grades 4-12 will receive academic guidance and basketball skills training

A free basketball clinic for youth in grades 4-12 will be a part of the upcoming Virginia Squires basketball team reunion. The free Basketballology Clinic will be held 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday May 1, 2014 at the Williams Farm Recreation Center, located at 5252 Learning Center in Virginia Beach.

Youth who attend this free clinic will receive insight from Wali “Wonder” Jones, a team member of the 1967 World Champion ‘76ers and team member of the ABA Utah Stars with Moses Malone. In addition to basketball skill training, participants will also learn how to develop an academic action plan.

The Virginia Squires was an American Basketball Association basetkball team based in Norfolk from 1970-76. Dave Twardzik, Julius “Dr. J” Erving and George “The Iceman” Gervin are a few of the Squires’ standout players.
