Stay Off the Road Today!

City Crews and VDOT Working to Clear Main Roads

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

City officials urge residents and visitors to stay off the road today while crews work to clear the streets.

If you don’t have to drive today, stay home! Not only are the roads unsafe, but cars on the road will hinder cleanup efforts.

City crews, with help from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), are busy plowing major roads this morning. Crews are working this morning on main thoroughfares. Secondary roads will be plowed later today. Residential streets will not be plowed because the damage risk is very high and there is limited space to push away the snow.

As a reminder, SLEDDING IS PROHIBITED at Mount Trashmore Park.

All city offices and facilities are closed today. No decision has been made yet on the schedule for tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 30. We will keep you informed as more information is available.
