Want to Hire and Retain Veterans? Come to V3 Workshop on Dec. 10

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Hampton Roads is home to thousands of highly trained former military employees, many of them eager to find work in civilian businesses. Find out how to recruit these men and women when the city hosts the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Conference on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th St. The interactive conference will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The state initiative provides training and education for Virginia employers who want to hire veterans but don't know how. Participants will learn how to recruit, hire, train and retain veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserves. The conference will help employers understand the benefits of military experience in the workplace and will provide tools to build military recruiting programs.

The goal is to help make Virginia the most veteran-friendly state in the nation. The cost to attend is $100. For more information and to register, visit www.virginiavaluesveterans.com or contact Tom Barto at tbarto@tmgva.com or (757) 303-0804.

For its commitment to hire and retain veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserves, the City of Virginia Beach will be awarded the bronze level V3 certification.
