Charles Neville will join Aaron Neville on Sandler Center Stage Nov. 9

Wednesday, November 06, 2013

This Saturday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m., the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts will host Aaron Neville, who will also feature one of his four brothers, saxophone player Charles Neville, on stage during the concert.  Charles, the second-oldest Neville brother, has the most diverse musical background. His experience on saxophone has included rhythm & blues, funk, jazz, bebop, popular and even American Indian music.

Aaron, Charles and the other two brothers, Art and Cyril, make up the first family of New Orleans music, the Neville Brothers. The differences between the four Neville Brothers are as dramatic as the similarities that unite them. The name Neville is synonymous with passionate funk and a feeling for blues-soaked, deep pocket grooves.  Aaron Neville's incredible career has seen him move seamlessly back and forth between solo work and his role with his brothers.

The Sandler Center has also partnered with Sinclair Communications for a “Mo Chili & Chowder” event to raise money for the charity Movember, whose programs support prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. This pre-party on the Sandler Center Plaza will be from 2 to 6 p.m. and attendees can enter for their chance to meet and greet Aaron Neville before the 8 p.m. concert. This announcement comes as a unique addition to the Sandler Center’s winter lineup of other talented blues/rock musicians, which includes a trio performance from singer-songwriters Joe Ely, Ruthie Foster & Paul Thorn on Nov. 22, B.B. King on Jan. 10, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band on Jan. 24.  These shows are all part of the Tidewater Mortgage Services, Inc. Great Performance Series at the Sandler Center.
