Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Launches New Online Park Finder

Citizens can now search locations of over 200 city parks

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

With more than 200 city parks in Virginia Beach that feature amenities ranging from playgrounds and picnic shelters to athletic fields and kayak launches, citizens and visitors are now able to easily search for a city park location by name, zip code and/or amenities using an online tool called Park Finder.

The Park Finder web application provides search results that display both in a list and on a map. Selecting a park then allows a citizen to view specific details including site address, amenities, operating hours and driving directions.

Employing responsive design principles, the online Park Finder was created to be user-friendly whether a citizen utilizes the tool on a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or on most smartphones. The online tool was created by the City of Virginia Beach Communications & Information Technology web development team in partnership with Parks & Recreation staff.
