Japanese Tea Ceremony Celebrates Cross-Cultural Ties

Friday, September 13, 2013

The Virginia Beach Historic Houses, in conjunction with Quintin's Tea Emporium, invite the public to join a traditional Japanese tea ceremony on Sept. 28 at the Lynnhaven House Colonial Education Center, 4409 Wishart Road. The Japanese Tea Ceremony Friendship Circle will perform the time-honored practice at noon and 1:30 p.m.

The Japanese consider the centuries-old tea ceremony to be an art form involving precise rituals in preparing and presenting matcha tea. Experience first-hand this peaceful, graceful and respectful tradition of sharing matcha with honored guests.

Reservations are required. Tickets can be purchased for $12 per person at Quintin’s Tea Emporium, 3101 Virginia Beach Blvd., or online at http://store.quintinstea.com/events.aspx. For more information, call (757) 340-0235 or 460-7530, or visit www.quintinstea.com or www.museumsvb.org.
