Virginia Beach Unveils Redistricting Website

Citizens who want to follow the City Council redistricting discussion in Virginia Beach can visit a new website:


The site includes:

  • Maps and data for four proposed redistricting plans – three from the City Council redistricting liaisons  and one from the Virginia Beach branch of the NAACP
  • Maps and data for current City Council districts
  • A way to submit other proposed redistricting maps
  • A calendar of upcoming events
  • Census figures
  • Presentations to the City Council

Site content will be added and portions of the website are under construction.

The City Council is tentatively scheduled to approve new districts on Aug. 23. Public meetings are scheduled for July 14 and 27 to provide feedback on proposed plans.  A public hearing before City Council is scheduled for Aug. 9.  All meetings will be at 6 p.m. in the City Council chamber.
