Tidewater Community College and the City of Virginia Beach are hosting a community celebration to launch the Joint-Use Library, a unique academic/public library offering seamless services to campus and community. The day’s events include family storytimes, Lego-building, a music program, crafts, outdoor games and inflatables, police and fire touch-a-truck opportunities, e-reader and gadget demos, building tours and more.

MORE:​ The Joint-Use Library is 125,000 square feet - more than two football fields – and features 360 computers, including 200 for drop-in use, collaborative work spaces, free Wi-Fi, a café, study rooms and more. TCC students will enjoy an expanded popular materials collection, while Beach residents will have increased access to academic materials. The library will offer thousands of books, periodicals, CDs, DVDs and more, with seamless, convenient service to all. The Marcy Sims Children's Room, named for the retiring Beach Library Director, includes $180,000 in early literacy activity centers and special features funded by the Virginia Beach Library Foundation and Friends of Virginia Beach Public Library.​
