Dogs and Cats Only at City Animal Shelter During Storm

During Hurricane Sandy, the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center will accept only dogs and cats from citizens who use the Birdneck Elementary School public shelter, starting this morning at 10 a.m. The center is at 341 S. Birdneck Road.

 

Owners should bring food, bedding and medication for their pets. Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers. Animals can stay free of charge until the Birdneck Elementary shelter closes. The pet shelter is only authorized for citizens staying at the Birdneck shelter.
