Daily parking rates have changed to make parking a little easier! 

The rates are now $2 per hour at the municipal parking garages, surface lots, and meters at the resort except during Peak Parking times.

Parking Programs

The City of Virginia Beach offers a wide variety of parking programs to assist in providing an easier parking experience.

  • ​Overnight Parking ​- Resort area municipal parking garages offer overnight parking for hotel guests with multiple ​vehicles.
  • Oversized Vehicle Parking ​- Available for visitors with large buses, RVs, or trailers.
  • Monthly Parking Spaces - Frequent parkers have the option to purchase dedicated or non-dedicated parking spaces at all municipal parking garages.
  • Resort Employee Parking - Employees eligiable for a RPP business permit are allowed to park Monday - Thursday at 31st street garage, 9th street garage, 25th street garage, and ​4th street lot.

Parking Discounts


  • Virginia Beach Resident Rate - Currently only being offered in the municipal parking garages, Sandbridge/Little Island, and Croatan with proof of Virginia Beach residency, pay $3 after 5PM every day.
  • Monthly Parking Space - Pay %50 ($50) of the dedicated monthly parking amount for a non-dedicated parking space. 
  • Monthly Reserved Parking Space - Pay $100 a month for a dedicated reserved parking space at one of the municipal parking garages located at the Oceanfront.
  • Surface Lot Seasonal Pass - Offered at a deep discount for the resort area municipal surface lots including 4th Street, 2nd Street, Rudee Loop, Croatan, and Sandbridge for $70 annually. Add a second vehicle for $10.
    • The vehicle license plate number registered to the pass will be the Seasonal Permit. No physical pass will be mailed out.
    • Only ONE license plate number can be used per each permit purchased.
  • ​Loyalty Card - Offers free parking after purchasing five parking sessions. Currently only being offered in the municipal parking garages.
  • Free Parking - Allowed on street in surrounding neighborhoods from 6AM to 8PM.
  • Free Parking - Available at some on-street locations that do not have meters in the resort areas not covered by Residential Parking Permits.
  • Handicap Parking - Free for the first four hours in all metered street spaces.
  • ​Off Season Metered Parking - Free at on-street spaces from November 1st to March 31st with the exception of 300 block of 24th 1/2 Street and 300 block of 25th Street.
  • ​Off Season Surface Lot Parking - Free at all municipal parking lots from November 1st to March 31st except for oversized vehicles at 4th street.
