Wildlife is best left alone especially juvenile wildlife. A common myth is if a person touches a baby bird or rabbit, the mother will abandon it. A mother may be hesitant to return to her young while you are present. If you encounter wildlife on your property it's best to leave it alone and allow nature to take its course.

Animal Control will pick up an injured or sick animal for the safety of the resident. In addition, Animal Control will service traps containing sick or injured wildlife; however, will only respond to a residence a total of six times to service a trap containing healthy wildlife. For more information on wildlife, explore the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries website at http://www.dgif.virginia.gov including information on their Wildlife Conflict Resolution Hotline at https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/wildlife/nuisance.
