2018 Burton Station SGA Plan Update

Why Update?

Since the time of the adoption of the plan in 2009, there have been changes to the foundational assumptions that the plan was based upon, particularly the extensive changes affecting land use throughout the western half of the SGA. Based on the changes, the Comprehensive Plan, adopted on May 17, 2016, recommended an update to the Burton Station SGA Master Plan through a public process.

Significant Land Use Changes:

  • The Norfolk Premium Outlet Mall Development
  • The golf course has been removed from plan consideration
  • Wesleyan Drive (now Premium Outlet Blvd.) connectivity alterations
  • Norfolk Airport Authority property rezoning
  • Approval of an apartment complex, substantially compliant with the plan but reveals market strength for multi-family
