​​​Lace up your sneakers and join Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation and the Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation for Sunday RUNday at Mount Trashmore Park.

The annual race event features the VBPRF 5K, Kids Fun Run and Family Fitness Run Walk. Runners will enjoy a flat, scenic course around Lake Trashmore. Race highlights include free race photos and a 2017 race t-shirt​ - plus music and food trucks! Proceeds benefit the Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation to provide youth scholarships and free swim lessons for Title I schools.​

This is a timed event. Register by July 2nd to guarantee your Sunday RUNday t-shirt! All finishers for the 5K ​will receive a Sunday RUNday medal.​

Day-of registration (if space remains): $40​; begins at 6 am at shelter 1
No refunds will be issued, as event runs rain or shine

F​amily Fitness Dance Party | 11 am

Following the awards ceremony, Parks & Recreation Fitness Instructors lead the way as we get down with some funky Zumba and MixxedFit moves. It’s a party at Trashmore!​ ​


Sunday Funday Anniversary Edition | 11 am - 3 pm

The DJ keeps it rocking as we celebrate in the park with lawn games, food trucks, sack races, and bounce houses. Bring your appetite because some of the best Eat the Streets 757 Food Truc​ks​ will be serving up delicious eats!​

 Volunteer
We'd love to have you on our team on race day! Volunteers are needed to assist with water stations, course coverage and finish line activities on Sunday, July 23 from 7 to 11 am. Limited spaces are available on Saturday, July 22 from 1-5 pm for packet pick-up. All volunteers will​ receive a t-shirt. ​

100%​ of race ​proceeds will benefit the Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation. The foundation is is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that exists to support Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation in promoting healthy lifestyles and protecting our coastal environment.​ ​

The Foundation’s fundraising supports crucial programs including:
  • Youth scholarships for swim lessons, summer camp, after-school programs, and recreation center memberships.
  • Specialized beach wheelchairs for Therapeutic Recreation participants.
  • Enhancement of community parks and recreation centers.​
