Meet Your Coaches

Jasmine Jolley
Jasmine was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She began swimming competitively at the age of 6 and has been on several swim teams including U.S.S., YMCA, and City Recreational leagues. Jasmine volunteered to coach for her previous teams and used her swimming skills to become a lifeguard for the N.Y.C. Parks Department. Jasmine also swam for her high school in the P.S.A.L. (Public School Athletic League) where she was a captain and ranked top 10 in the city. She began teaching swimming, all ages and skill levels, after high school for a private swim company in Manhattan. About 2 years ago she moved to Virginia Beach and started working for the City as both a lifeguard and instructor. This will be her 3rd year as a coach. Jasmine is currently working on getting into the Physical Therapy Assistant program at T.C.C. In her free time she likes to read and take her dog to the beach. She has always been passionate about swimming and is very excited to have the opportunity to coach. Jasmine’s advice to her swimmers is, “always try your best, even if there is a day where you're not feeling it. If you just give up, then nothing changes and you won't get any results. This whole experience is to help kids learn more about swimming, you only learn by trying.”

Julia Manthey

Julia Manthey is from Virginia Beach. She graduated from Kellam High School and continued her education at Virginia Tech in 2018 for Human Development. She started her swim career with the Green Run Gators, continued on the Oceana Swim Team, participated on the Kellam High School team, and finished on the Virginia Tech Club team. Julia coached for the Oceana Swim Team and Seatack Sharks. We were pleased to have her join our team last year. When Julia is not working, she enjoys reading, running, going to the beach, and hiking with her dogs. Julia’s advice to her swimmers is, “have fun, set goals, and listen to your body!”
