Meet Your Coaches

GN Josh.jpgJosh Dreano (Coach)
Josh grew up in Virginia Beach and swam for Bayside High School. He has been working for the City of Virginia Beach as a lifeguard since 2013 and became a Water Safety Instructor in 2014. and has been assisting with coaching ever since. Josh has coached the last 3 years for the Great Neck Gators and is now coming over to the Bayside Marlins. Outside of the pool, he doesn't stay inside because he's surfing, fishing, out playing disc golf, or scuba diving. Josh's advice to his swimmers is always put your best effort forward. When you give more effort than you think you can, you've created new limits to break.

Wendy Riccio (Coach)
Wendy from the north east area spent her younger years swimming in the Long Island sound and Hammonasset Beach State Park. Born with gills and a dorsal fin it was decided that her talents must be surgically removed so that she could live a normal life.  Her family moved to Norfolk, Virginia where they joined the local Rec swim league. Quickly excelling in the sport Wendy became a lifeguard in 2013, swam for Granby High School competed in the regional championships for 100 back and fly. Later became a water safety instructor and certified lifeguard training instructor.  She is now studying human movement and biomechanics. Wendy is excited to start her first year as a Virginia Beach Youth League swim coach.

HRigazzi.JPGHannah Rigazzi (Coach)
This is Hannah's first year coaching at Bayside but she's been a Bayside Marlin since moving to Virginia Beach in second grade. After aging out, Hannah became a Cavalier where her favorite strokes were back (she still holds the 25 record) and breast - though she went to states for the 500 free. She loves everything to do with the water, including water polo. She's so excited to help swimmers achieve their personal goals this year!

BS Matthew.JPGMatthew Warnock (Team Representative)
Matthew a.k.a. 'The Otter' does not remember a time when he couldn't swim. Matthew swam competitively in high school for Ocean Lakes.  He has coached and trained summer league teams, navy seals, and open water swimmers. Matthew coached the Bayside Marlins and Kempsville Stingrays a few seasons before becoming full time in 2017. This is Matthew's second season as a Swim League Representative for the Marlins and he hopes that everyone stays healthy and has an amazing season!
