 Early Childhood

This program is perfect for your rising (or just completed) Kindergartener and designed to encourage play, creativity, exploration and FUN! Each week will be a different theme including age appropriate activities, crafts, swimming and on site special events and field trips such as Cinema Café, Sky Zone, Build A Bear and FunVille. Participants are provided snacks however they will need to bring their lunch daily. This program is licensed and regulated by the Virginia Department of Social Services Licensing Division.
Registration Requirements: The total weekly cost of $165 requires a $30 weekly deposit (non-refundable, non-transferrable) due at registration and the remaining balance will be due according to the summer payment schedule. A summer registration form, copy of school entrance immunization & physical records and viewing of birth certificate is required at registration. A recreation center membership or day pass is required to attend. There is no camp July 4th.

This program is perfect for your 3 – 6 year old preschooler and designed to encourage play, creativity, exploration and FUN! Select weeks will be a different theme including age appropriate activities, crafts, snacks and field trips. Participants are provided snacks. This program is exempt from Licensing.  
Registration Requirements: The total weekly cost of $97 is due in full at registration along with a completed summer registration form. A recreation center membership or day pass is required to attend.

KidzQuest Juniors

Are you looking for a fun and energetic summer camp for your rising 1st – 3rd grader? Conveniently located at select City of Virginia Beach Public Elementary schools, your child(ren) will meet new friends; challenge themselves with recreational activities, sports and age-appropriate field trips or special events such as Chuck E. Cheese’s, Ocean Breeze, Aquarium, and Bowling. Participants will need a morning and afternoon snack and lunch daily (no refrigeration or microwaves will be onsite.) Sneakers are required for participation. 
Registration Requirements: The total weekly cost of $99 requires a $10 weekly deposit (non-refundable, non-transferrable) due at registration and the remaining balance will be due according to the summer payment schedule. A summer registration form is required at registration. There is no camp July 4th.

RISE

This fun and educational summer program offers rising 1st – 6th graders who attend a Virginia Beach City Public School, enriching experiences emphasizing Math, Science or Literacy as well as the key elements of RISE: Recreation, Imagination, Socialization, and Education. These programs will operate at select Title I schools in Virginia Beach. Participants receive breakfast and lunch each day and will go on one field trip each week beginning June 30, 2017. Please note: RISE is a summer enrichment program and we stress the importance of daily attendance. Participants who do not attend regularly may be prohibited from attending field trips.
Eligibility Requirements: Participants must be a current Virginia Beach City Public School Student receiving free or reduced lunch or have an approved Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Fee Waiver. A copy of the Free and Reduced Lunch Letter (FARL) must be provided with the summer registration form​. 
Registration Requirements: The total program cost is $210. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration and the remaining balance must be paid by May 12, 2017.

Teen Camps 

Are you looking for a fun and energetic summer camp for your rising 7th – 9th grader? Add On Swim Lessons

Make your child's summer camp experience extra special by including a series of swimming lessons. All abilities of swimmers welcome! Campers will improve their swimming proficiency and knowledge of water safety.
Registration Requirements: All participants must be enrolled in a Recreation Center Summer Camp at the corresponding center during the week they register for the Add ​On Option. Each child must have a current recreation center membership. Cost is $30-32 per week.

​For camps held inside a recreation center, a current recreation center membership is needed for the duration of the camp. Please register at least one week in advance of camp start date. No camps will be held on July 4th. ​

Back ​2 Nature Camp | Ages 6-10

Get the kids outside this summer to experience the best Virginia Beach has to offer! Each day is filled with engaging outdoor recreational activities such as kayaking, fishing, hiking and archery as well as games and crafts. Campers will travel to various parks and natural areas across the city to gain hands on knowledge of our local surroun​dings, respect for wildlife, and an understanding of the importance of environmental stewardship.

Basketball Camp | Ages 6-15​

​Enhance your basketball skills over the summer break. Shooting, ball handling, defense, foot work, rebounding and other basketball related drills will be taught. End the week with a tournament! Fashion is My Passion Camp | Ages 13-16​

Take your passion for fashion to new levels! Learn the key elements of Fashion Sketching, Illustration, Construction, Collection Development, Sewing, Fashion Design, Fabric Selection and Fashion History.  This camp is designed for students with little to no sewing experience. Students will leave the programs with a sketchbook full of designs and inspiration and a final 2D or 3D project.

Gym and Swim Camp | Ages 7-12​

Junior Golf Camp | Ages 8-14

Learn the fundamentals of golf: swing, pitching, chipping, and putting in a fun environment. Each day is filled with practice, games and a little competition. Camp includes range balls, clubs if needed, snacks, awards and a completion certificate. Recreation membership is not needed.

Last Blast Camp | Ages 6-12

It's not over yet! Spend the last week before going back to school getting in some last minute fun! Campers will spend half​ the day in the gym playing sports and games and the other half will be spent having fun with crafts, visits to the game room, and creative projects.

Little Builders Camp | Ages 8-11

For aspiring little builders who want to become mini-master builders, spend the week expanding your imagination. Use fun templates to create projects using Legos, Goldie Blox, and many other popular building systems. Campers will enjoy a fun recreational activity each day. Camp t-shirt will be provided.

Magic Camp | Ages 6-11

Campers will learn amazing magic tricks to perform for family and friends. Conducted by a professional magician, this camp also teaches magic skills and builds self-confidence in a fun, learning environment. Campers receive a magic wand and case, and learn new magic tricks each day. On Friday, campers will perform the tricks and skills learned in a Magic Show for family friends! New tricks will be taught for those who have participated in the past.

Rising Star​ Camp | Ages 8-14

Young entertainer enthusiasts will sharpen their musical talents while working with vocal and digital recording professionals. Soulful Techniques Music Camp | Ages 13-16

If you love music and want to take your passion to the next level, this 5-day music program offers hands on learning in audio recording in ProTools, digital audio, DJ mixing, sound dynamics, music editing, vocal techniques, song structure, music theory, piano basics, and how to market your music. Students will be introduced to a network of renowned music industry and technology professionals, that includes guest lectures from respected performers to skilled technicians.

Sports Camp | Ages 8-12

For kids who love to be active, learn new skills, and be part of a team, this camp provides the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports including flag football, basketball, pickleball, soccer, racquetball, billiards, table tennis and hobby sports, such as kickball and speedball.

Stop Motion Animation Camp | Ages 10-12

Explore the exciting world of stop motion animation with this fun and interactive camp. Using Legos, develop your own short animation clip.

Tennis Camp | Ages 7-14

This USTA-sponsored tennis camp will help new or novice youth participants develop tennis fundamentals (e.g. groundstrokes, volley, serve) through a fun play-to-learn style of learning tennis. Participants also practice match play and learn about sportsmanship and game rules. The camp utilizes different court sizes and modified tennis equipment for youth to rally in no time. Notes: Racquets will be provided unless campers want to bring their own. Recommend appropriate athletic wear and tennis shoes, towel, and water bottle. In the event of inclement weather, tennis camps will move inside the recreation center. Camp t-shirt will be provided. Recreation Center membership is not required.

Volleyball Camp - Beginner | Ages 8-12

Learn the game of volleyball through traditional and non-traditional play, skill work and fun activities. Conducted by Jason Seaford who has 14 years experience in elementary education, as well as 16 years directing and coaching volleyball. Little to no experience needed.  Camp t-shirt will be provided.

Volleyball Camp - Intermediate | Ages 9-13

Focusing on skill development, playing tactics and philosophies, each session offers traditional and non-traditional play, skill work and fun activities. The program will be conducted by Jason Seaford, who has 14 years elementary education, as well as 16 years directing and coaching volleyball. Some level of experience playing volleyball is required. Camp t-shirt will be provided.
