Our summer camps will fill your child's day with fun activities, games, crafts, special events and more! Make a splash at our recreation center camps or hop, skip and jump over to our convenient school-based camps. We also have plenty of specialty camps that cater to your budding athlete, nature-lover or curious engineer! ​​​​​​​​​​

​Register for summer camps in-person at any Virginia Beach Recreation Center. Online registration for Early Childhood, School-Age, and Middle School & Teens ended on May 18. Online registration is still available for Sports & Specialty.

 Early Childhood

Our Early Childhood Programs are designed to encourage play, creativity, exploration and FUN! Each week will be a different theme including age appropriate activities, crafts, swimming, on site special events and field trips such as the Children's Museum, Chuck E. Cheese, Jump and the Petting Zoo. Participants are provided snacks however they will need to bring their lunch daily. These programs are licensed and regulated by the Virginia Department of Social Services Licensing Division. A recreation center membership or daily pass is required to attend.

Locations: Bow Creek, Kempsville, Princess Anne and Williams Farm Recreation Centers
Hours: 7 am – 6 pm
Dates: June 18 – August 31
Weekly Cost: $170 (Cost includes non-refundable and non-transferrable registration fee of $5 and deposit of $30​)

Add On Swim Lessons

Make your child's summer camp experience extra special by including a series of swimming lessons. All abilities of swimmers welcome! Campers will improve their swimming proficiency and knowledge of water safety. All participants must be enrolled in a Preschool, PreK or Kinderbuddies Summer Camp at the corresponding center during the week they register for the Add On Option​.​​ Your child will be introduced to Levels 1-3 of the American Red Cross Preschool Aquatics Program. Activities include progressive swimming skills and water safety education.

Preschool: Participants must be 3 or 4 years of age
PreK: Participants must be 4 or 5 years of age
Kinderbuddies: Participants must be entering Kindergarten for the upcoming school year or just completed

  • A weekly non-refundable, non-transferrable registration fee and deposit of $35 is due at the time of registration for each week you select. The remaining balance is due according to the summer payment schedule.
  • An Early Childhood Registration Form completed by the parent/legal guardian
    • ​​​Legal documentation must be attached for anyone indicating they are the legal guardian
  • Copies of your child's school entrance immunization and physical records and viewing of their birth certificate are due prior to attending

Our school age camps are for rising 1st – 6th graders. Your child will meet new friends, challenge themselves with fun and energetic recreational activities, sports and age-appropriate field trips such as Dave & Buster's, Bowling, Sky Zone and Ocean Breeze. Participants will need a morning and afternoon snack and lunch daily. Refrigeration and microwaves are not available at school sites. Sneakers are required to participate.

Recreation Center Juniors & Seniors

These camps go on two field trips per week and have an added bonus of amenities such as swimming pools and action-packed game rooms. A recreation center membership or daily pass is required for these camps.

Locations: Bow Creek, Bayside, Great Neck, Kempsville and Princess Anne Recreation Centers
Hours: 7 am – 6 pm
Dates: June 18 – August 24 (10-weeks)

Add On Swim Lessons

These camps go on one field trip per week and are located in select Virginia Beach City Public Elementary Schools. A recreation center membership or daily pass is not required for these camps.

Locations (10-weeks): Christopher Farms, Kempsville, Kempsville Meadows, North Landing, Windsor Woods​
Hours: 7 am – 6 pm
Dates: June 18 – August 10 (8-weeks) & June 18 – August 24 (10-weeks)
Weekly Cost: $104 (Cost includes non-refundable and non-transferrable registration fee of $5 and deposit of $10​)

These fun and energetic camps are located in select recreation centers and Virginia Beach City Public Middle Schools. Your child will meet new friends; challenge themselves with recreational activities, sports and exciting field trips such as Top Golf, Adventure Park, Ocean Breeze and Busch Gardens. Participants will need a morning and afternoon snack and lunch daily. Refrigeration and microwaves are not available at school sites. Sneakers are required to participate.

Middle School Mania Youth & Teen

These camps go on two field trips per week and are located in select Virginia Beach City Public Middle Schools. A recreation center membership or daily pass is not required.

Locations (Youth & Teen): Brandon Middle and Landstown Middle
Hours: 7 am – 6 pm
Dates: June 25 – August 24 (9-weeks)
Weekly Cost: $109 (Cost includes non-refundable and non-transferrable registration fee of $5 and deposit of $10)​​

Recreation Center Teen​​

Summer Education Enrichment Program​​

RISE is a fun and educational summer enrichment program for rising 1st – 6th graders who attend a Virginia Beach City Public School. The program features enriching experiences and activities emphasizing Math, Science or Literacy as well as the key elements of RISE: Recreation, Imagination, Socialization, and Education. Participants receive breakfast and lunch each day and will go on one field trip each week beginning June 29. 

Dates: Monday - Friday, June 18 - August 17 (no camp July 4)
Hours: 7 am - 6 pm

Please note: RISE is a nine-week summer education enrichment program and your child will participate in all academic enrichment and recreational activities each day. We require notification in writing prior to the program beginning of any dates that may conflict with the attendance requirement. Failure to do so may result in removal from the program and/or elements of this program.

Registration Eligibility: Participants must currently be a Virginia Beach City Public School Student receiving free or reduced lunch or have an approved Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Fee Waiver. A copy of the Free and Reduced Lunch Letter (FARL) must be provided with the application form at the time of registration.

Program Cost: $215 ($55 non-refundable, non-transferrable registration fee and deposit due at registration; remaining balance is due by June 1)

Basketball Camp | Ages 8-15

Enhance your basketball skills over the summer break. Shooting, ball handling, defense, foot work, rebounding and other basketball related drills will be taught. End the week with a tournament! Football Skills and Conditioning Camp | Ages 11-14

Prepare your athlete for the upcoming football season tryouts. Players will participate in speed, agility and other football related activities. Enhance your understanding of the game of football and improve your overall ability. Camp t-shirt will be provided.​​

Tennis Camp | Ages 7-14

This USTA-sponsored tennis camp will help new or novice youth participants develop tennis fundamentals (e.g. groundstrokes, volley, serve) through a fun play-to-learn style of learning tennis. Participants also practice match play and learn about sportsmanship and game rules. The camp utilizes different court sizes and modified tennis equipment for youth to rally in no time. Notes: Racquets will be provided unless campers want to bring their own. Recommend appropriate athletic wear and tennis shoes, towel, and water bottle. In the event of inclement weather, tennis camps will move inside the recreation center. T-shirts will be provided. ​​​Recreation Center membership is not required.

Get the kids outside this summer to experience the best Virginia Beach has to offer! Each day is filled with engaging outdoor recreational activities such as kayaking, fishing, hiking and archery as well as games and crafts. Campers will travel to various parks and natural areas across the city to gain hands on knowledge of our local surroundings, respect for wildlife, and an understanding of the importance of environmental stewardship.

Creative Arts Camp | Ages 6-12

There is an artist in you and we want to help you discover it by introducing you to the world of painting, drawing and crafts. We will show you different painting methods and fill you in on some of the history of famous artist. If you have always wanted to be an artist or just want to express your creative side, this is your camp! Your unique works of art will be on display in our Recreation Center Art Show for family and friends to see! ​

Last Blast Summer Camp | Ages 5-12

Little Lacrosse Camp | Ages K-3rd Grade

Come have fun at Lacrosse Camp where you'll learn the lacrosse basics while gaining skills in team work and leadership. The kids will play games, gain important team building concepts, and most importantly make new friends while learning a new sport. Cox Lacrosse Team members will come coach and teach the kids. We supply the lacrosse sticks and balls. Please bring water bottles, we will also supply water. You are welcome to bring snacks.

Magic Camp | Ages 6-12

Campers will learn amazing magic tricks to perform for family and friends. Conducted by award winning professional magician Rob Westcott. This camp also teaches magic skills and builds self-confidence in a fun, learning environment. Campers receive a magic wand and case, and learn new magic tricks and skills they've learned in a Magic Show for family and friends. New tricks also will be taught for those who have participated in the past. From 12:00 p.m. - 4:00p.m., campers will enjoys local field trips (full day camp only).

VBe Better Youth Volunteer Camp | Ages 6-12

For those who want to give back to the community, VBe Better Youth Volunteer Camp is the camp for them. Each camper will get a grand total of 35hours of community service, with over 10 different organizations, a signed letter verifying service hours, and a meaningful summer of service they will never forget!

Registration is not complete until we receive all required registration documents and your payment.

Required Documentation

A registration form and t-shirt form must be completed by a parent/legal guardian at the time of registration. Legal documentation is required to be attached for legal guardians in order to register. If a form and/or documents are not provided, we will not be able to register your child. If you register online, you must submit this documentation prior to your child attending. If we do not receive your required forms, your child will not be able to attend and be withdrawn from the program.​

          T-Shirt Form

A Medication Consent Form​ is required if your child requires medication to be administered during our programs. This form is for participants enrolling in any other summer program. 

A Consent and Release of Epinephrine Injections Form​ is required to be submitted with a Medication Consent Form if your child has been assessed by a physician and requires an Epinephrine Injection for anaphylaxis reactions during our programs.

Note - Medications are not allowed onsite until parents have been contacted by an OST Supervisor with approval.

Payment Policy

At registration a weekly non-refundable, non-transferrable registration fee and deposit are due for selected weeks. The remaining balance will be due according to the Summer Payment Schedule​. Sport & Specialty camps require a non-refundable, non-transferrable registration and program fee in full at registration.

If your weekly balance is not received by the due dates indicated on the Summer Payment Schedule, your child will be withdrawn from that week and the registration fee and deposit for that week is forfeited. Should this occur and space is available, you can register for that week and pay the full weekly fee. If space is not available, you may waitlist your child for that week or register for another location that may be available and pay the full weekly fee.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Requests for cancellations and refunds must be submitted in writing by a parent/legal guardian at least 7 days prior to the start of the week to be eligible for a refund. Registration Fees and Deposits are non-refundable, non-transferrable. Approved refunds will be processed back to the payer and method used to pay.

  • Cash refunds are subject to availability of funds at any recreation center
  • Check refunds can take up to 30 days to be received
  • Credit Card refunds should post within 2-3 days of being processed​​
