​​Personal training is a specific program designed to meet each individual’s needs and includes personal coaching and one-on-one instruction throughout the workout. Our nationally certified personal trainers will design an individualized fitness program that will help you achieve your personal goals.​

 Personal Training Sessions

​​Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation offers personal training at many of our recreation centers. Sessions are 30 or 60 minutes in length and are scheduled at the convenience of the member(s) and trainer.

We​ also offer personal training with a partner or group as an economical alternative to individual training.

Small Group | 3 to 5 People | 60 Minute Sessions

Offers a small group environment where you can excel and take your training to the next level at a fraction of the cost of personal training. Benefit from certified, professional trainers to meet your personal needs with ongoing accountability from your trainer and fellow group members.

Our trainers will design a special program to meet the needs of your group. Get as intense of a workout as you and your group desire with the guidance of our certified, professional trainers!

 Nutritional Counseling

​Meet with one of our Fitness Nutrition specialists to analyze your diet and help you get to where you want to be! The 4 and 8 session package will include a food journal. Get healthy from the inside out! Available at Bow Creek, Princess Anne and Williams Farm Recreation Centers.

Diane has spent 30 years in the fitness industry designing, developing and implementing fitness and wellness programs. She has worked for several not-for-profit organizations, private sector gyms and within the medical community as a rehabilitative exercise specialist. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, with an emphasis in corporate wellness from Shepherd University and completed graduate level coursework in Exercise Science and Wellness at Old Dominion University. Diane loves to be outdoors whether she is gardening, biking or camping. After playing disc golf since the early 1990’s, she has finally received a PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) number.

Diane's Personal Fitness Philosophy: “I am a lifelong learner and ever-evolving wellness professional. My goal is to inspire others, and provide opportunities and tools to help them find their own state of well-being.”

Ray is an avid seeker of learning how to move better and presenting this in an effective way. A graduate of the University of Maryland with degrees in Neurobiology/Physiology and Art, his training techniques have been focused on rehabilitation and Injury prevention. During free time Ray likes to keep up with his own fitness routine and keep up with his Graphic Design skills. Ray is also a foodie who enjoys cooking and eating of new types of food.

Kelly attended California University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management with a minor in Biology before going on to complete her Master’s Degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion.  While at Cal U, she was an All-American setter for the Vulcan Volleyball team, where she and her teammates made a total of 2 NCAA DII Elite-8 and 5 sweet-sixteen appearances and captured 3 conference championship titles from 2008-2012. 

Her passion lies in improving the lives of others through physical fitness, healthy eating and positive lifestyle changes. One of her favorite feelings is knowing the work she does helps to better the lives of those she works with, and that clients are able to do things they once couldn’t and start to see their hard work pay off.

Paula Couto is an enabler for better health and well-being. She graduated with a degree in psychology and has over a decade of experience in fitness. Paula is known for her holistic approach to fitness. She is certified to teach BODYPUMP™, yoga, cycle, and aqua classes.

Tony has 25 years with the Park and Recreation department. He has worked in the Athletic, Fitness, and Personal Training divisions. This experience and training in related fields like the SilverSneakers senior fitness programs, aquatic fitness classes, coaching,​ and his love for outdoor recreation lets him successfully program for youth, adults and seniors.  In his time away from the rec center, Tony enjoys surfing, fishing, boating and more surfing.

Rodney has been in the fitness and wellness business for over 25 years. He is a Nationally Qualified Competitive Body Builder and Classic Physique Competitor. Rodney has been coaching, training, and competing for the better part of 25 years. He enjoys strength and conditioning training, as well as fitness, team and group programming.
