Candid is a nonprofit that helps other nonprofits serve their communities.  Virginia Beach Public Library offers Candid's key tools, including GuideStar and Foundation Directory. Nonprofits seeking funding can also access Foundation Directory to find and connect with funders.

Candid Databases and Resources

Foundation Directory (AVAILABLE IN LIBRARY ONLY)  With a database of 242,000+ grant makers, this resource can help nonprofits build robust prospect lists, identify funders who are most likely to provide support, and discover collaboration opportunities with other nonprofits.

Grants to Individuals (AVAILABLE IN LIBRARY ONLY) This resource helps students, researchers, and artists find grant makers who fund scholarships, fellowships, student aid, and artistic endeavors.   

GuideStar  (AVAILABLE IN LIBRARY ONLY) GuideStar provides access to information from over 2 million nonprofits that help community members find local nonprofits where they can donate, work or volunteer, and connect those in need to resources they rely on like food banks or shelters.

Candid Learning Learn from experts about nonprofit topics that include fundraising, proposal writing, social media marketing, and more with Candid's on-demand learning.

IssueLab – This website collects and shares knowledge from the social sector to help them do their jobs better and to deepen the impact of their efforts. Research and reports are available on over 30 Issue Areas. Additionally, curated Special Collections allow for deep dives into an issue, a current event or strategy.

Philanthropy News Digest – This website contains a digest of philanthropy-related articles and features culled from print and electronic media outlets nationwide. It includes a list of recent, searchable and subject-sorted "Requests for Proposals" by large national funders. Register for free to receive daily alerts for news, jobs, and RFPs of interest to you, subscribe to newsletters, or to submit a job posting.
