Community Book Club Kits

Do you have a book club, or are you interested in starting one? Check out a Book Club Kit from VBPL. Kits include discussion questions, 2 large print, 2 CD audiobook, and at least 8 regular print copies of a book. 

Writing

Author Talks - VBPL frequently brings guest authors to read from their books, talk about their inspiration and creative process. Books are generally available for purchase and signing following the Author Talk. Learn how the stories go from the author’s mind to the page. Look for author events in our online calendar. 

Writers - VBPL offers a variety of classes and programs for writers and aspiring writers.

​Local Author Collection - A collection of works by local authors is located at Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library. A local author is defined for the purpose of this collection as an author who currently resides in South Hampton Roads (Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth or Suffolk) or who lived in the area when their work was written or produced.
