​January is a time to look toward the future and take on the new year from all sides.

Your Future is Here page imageIt's a great time to capitalize on the library's available technology classes and tools. The library is offering two "Meet the App" events at Central this month. Learn about Overdrive, a digital resource for e-books, audiobooks and movies, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 10. offers online courses that teach everything from technology to business. Learn to navigate Lynda on Jan. 24 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., and you'll be able to elevate your technological skills to the next level! VBPL's take home tech is another resource to help make the new year great. Check out a Code-a-pillar for preschoolers, or the Sphero robots for older children and let them discover the world of coding. The Roku streaming stick provides a relaxing evening at home with its many preloaded movies, TV shows and more. Newest to the collection of tech out items is the Playaway View, a handheld animated picture book. All take home tech items are free to check out with your library card.

Do your new year resolutions include developing new talents? Join fellow artists for an Art Night at the Joint-Use Library on Jan. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. For children, a variety of STEAM and art focused classes are available each month.
