Listen Up Y'all

VBPL is the place to find music CDs, audio books, and more

Listen up, y'all. We're about to give you an earful of information about handy resources at Virginia Beach Public Library.

Have an ear for music? Check out the CD collection at any of our locations. Or, use your library account access Hoopla and download the latest music releases, no matter the genre. Likewise, you can check out books on CD at any library or use your account to access OverDrive and RBdigital, which have audiobooks to stream on your tablet, smart phone or computer. If you're new to digital resources, a great place to start is VBgov.com/Listen. Click on the "Help" button and watch tutorial videos.

Ever heard of talking books? Bayside & Special Services Library provides library service to Virginia Beach residents with visual and physical disabilities. The library offers talking books and players to customers at no cost. For information on how to apply for this service, visit the library's website or call 757-385-2684.

Do you have a story to tell? There's no better time to put it down in words, because November is National Novel Writing Month (NanoWriMo). Oceanfront Area Library is hosting several NanoWriMo meetings. Check our event calendar for meeting dates and times.

As the holidays near, VBPL has several programs to help you make the most of gift-giving and more. Learn how to spend wisely by attending "Holiday Shopping on a Shoestring Budget" at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Central Library. And before you hang your holiday lights this year, pick up some decorating tips at the "Holiday Fire Safety" presentation by the Virginia Beach Fire Department, 5:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at Pungo-Blackwater Library.

We hope your month is a good one. And, thanks for listening, y'all.
