Brains. More brains! Don't be a zombie this October. Feed your brain with mind-bending resources at Virginia Beach Public Library.

3-D printing is useful for testing out inventions, whether it's a part, toy, vase, or anything else you may design. You can make all sorts of fun and practical items using 3-D printers at four of our locations. For more information, visit the 3-D printer page on our website. Your children can learn computer coding skills by checking out Sphero robot or a Code-a-pillar. Get details on the Take Home Tech page on our website.

Board games are a fun way to exercise your mind. Come roll the dice at the library! The first Saturday of each month, Central Library invites adults to drop in anytime to play. Pick your favorite game from our collection, and members of the Tidewater Area Gaming Society will be on hand to provide tips and competitors. Princess Anne Library also offers adult game days. For the kids, search our catalog for educational video games, including Minecraft and LEGO world.

Looking forward to Halloween? With VBPL's Digital Library, you can skim through magazines for decorating ideas, browse Hoopla for scary movies, or check out an e-book by Stephen King or Anne Rice. On Oct. 26, Joint-Use Library is hosting a Halloween Green Screen Extravaganza, where your family can wear your favorite costumes, have your photo taken in front of our green screen, and make a craft. Find more spooktacular activities at VBgov.com/library-events.

October is National Reading Group Month. Are you looking for a place to discuss your latest reads? VBPL has book clubs that meet at the library (Now Read This, Read & Share) and craft breweries (Books on Tap). Visit our event calendar for more information. October is great time to join VBPL's "Adults Read!" program, which gives you incentives and book suggestions based on your reading preferences.

With all of VBPL's resources, there's no excuse to stay in the dark as the nights grow longer – and a bit scarier – this month. Be brave!
