Farm to Table via Your Library

As you visit your local VBPL branches you’ll find the usual: books, e-books, movies, music and plenty of free events. At these libraries, you can also pick up fresh produce:

Vaughan Farms
at Kempsville Area Library
Thurs., 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
beginning June 27

Vaughan Farms
at Great Neck Area Library
Tues., 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
beginning June 18

Flip Flop Farm
at Bayside Area Library
Thurs. & Sat., 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Local farmers set up stands each week, offering fresh, locally-grown fruit and vegetables for purchase.

Virginia Beach Public Library and the Virginia Beach Agriculture Department have partnered to provide citizens with another convenient access point to purchase local farm products. Produce will vary by location and by what’s in season, including summer favorites like greens, lettuce, melon, tomatoes, sweet corn and strawberries to name a few. Specialty items like jam and salsa will also be available.

Post a picture of what you find at the farm stands using #VBPL on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
