The City of Virginia Beach Human Resources Department's mission is to facilitate the recruitment, retention, and development of a sustainable quality workforce and its alignment with the City's strategy.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Human Resources administers various programs, through traditional and non-traditional means, to enhance  the work environment of our most valued resource, our employees. These programs include employee selection, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, member communications, and occupational health and safety management. Programs and services are provided to a workforce of full-time and part-time employees, who are primarily responsible for providing government services to our citizens.

Department offices are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and located at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center, Building 18, 2424 Courthouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia.  For the convenience of Applicants, two computers will be available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Assistance will be available during the following days and times:  Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  If assistance is needed outside these days and hours, please make an appointment with the Applicant Office by calling (757) 385-4157, please select "Option 9".  For more information regarding job postings, please visit our W.A.V.E. page or contact us ​
