Job descriptions are general statements that describe the duties, responsibilities, required qualifications, and reporting relationships of the noted job title and the positions the job title has been assigned. Job descriptions are not position specific unless it is a single incumbent title.
Job descriptions are based on objective information obtained through job analysis, an understanding of the competencies and skills required to accomplish needed tasks, and the needs of the organization to complete work assignments. Job descriptions also include general information regarding working conditions, tools and equipment used, and safety requirements attributed to the majority of positions the job title has been assigned.
