It also covers necessary modifications to allow a physically disabled resident to remain in the dwelling. The program provides grants and affordable loans to make emergency repairs to an eligible property. Funds are available to Virginia Beach residents whose household's total gross annual income does not exceed eighty percent (80%) of the area median income, adjusted for family size, as established by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). Persons in Household 80% of Median Income 1 $39,500 2 $45,150 3 $50,800 4 $56,400 5 $60,950 6 $65,450 7 $69,950 8 $74,450 Income guidelines effective as of March 28, 2016 Exterior Home Repairs The Facade Program offers assistance for the correction of exterior code violations, energy improvements (i.e. new roof, windows and heating/cooling system), vinyl siding and handicapped accessibility improvements.The program provides a 20-year 1% interest deferred loan (1% Annual Percentage Rate (APR)) for home repairs in order to improve the physical quality of the neighborhood, and the long term value and affordability of the dwelling for the homeowner. This program provides assistance for the rehabilitation of the property; it does not allow for remodeling. Assistance is provided one time only.
