Unsafe Properties

Condemned Properties List

The Condemned Properties List is a list of properties that Code Enforcement has determined to be unsafe. A Code Enforcement inspector has determined that one of the following conditions is present which endangers the public's health, safety, or welfare:

  1. Structural damage
  2. Lack of utility service
  3. Hazardous condition
  4. Vacant and open structure
  5. Unsafe gas equipment or appliance

This list is updated on a monthly basis. If the Code Enforcement Inspector determines the property is unsafe, the inspector will place a placard, which means entry is prohibited. All placarded properties are placed on the Condemned Properties List. If it is found that a listed dwelling is occupied and no longer posted with an unsafe placard, any action should be deferred, or put off, until its status is confirmed with Code Enforcement. The Code Enforcement Division is not involved in the sale or ownership of the properties on this list and does not release information regarding those matters.

Farm structures not used for residential purposes are exempt from the provisions of the Statewide Building Maintenance Code and are therefore not placarded.
