Volunteer Support Tech Application Process



1. Complete the VST application  and email to hirevbfd@vbgov.com. Your application will be kept on file until the next Volunteer process opens

​2. Background Investigation

Candidates who successfully complete the Physical Ability Assessment will move forward to the background investigation phase. Fire Human Resources will review applications, DMV driving records, references and state and federal background check results. Candidates will also undergo a polygraph exam

3.Candidates with satisfactory background results will move to the final steps: a Safety Sensitivity Physical (at the City's expense), FBI fingerprinting and Child Protective Services registry check. Those deemed medically fit for duty who clear these final steps will be able to attend the Volunteer Support Technician training program
