VBFD Partners with Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia

In the wake of damage experienced by area citizens from Hurricane Matthew, the Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) served as a temporary drop- off site for non-perishable food items in cooperation with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and Eastern Shore In a continuing effort to assist local citizens in need, the VBFD has permanently partnered with the Foodbank, creating the Extinguish Hunger Campaign. The Extinguish Hunger Campaign makes all Virginia Beach fire stations, Fire Administration, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the Fire Training Center drop off sites for non-perishable food. The public can drop off donations of non-perishable food, per the criteria below, at any of these sites and the Virginia Beach Fire Department will transport that food to the Foodbank for distribution to families in need.

​ Criteria for Food Donations: 

  • Must be non-perishable food 

  • Must be in non-breakable containers (No glass)

  • Nutritional Labels must be intact

  • Prefer low fat, low sodium, and low sugar foods 

  • Formula, baby food, diapers, and wipes are always welcome.

Additionally, if the door is locked, please forgive us, we are out answering an emergency call.  Please come back and drop off your donations when we are home.
