Requires a more extended application and testing process.

When application is complete, call the police academy at (757) 385-6987 with your confirmation number to schedule a testing date.

Employment of Minors &/or Seasonal Positions:

Sometimes jobs can be found for those under 18, if they meet all other requirements for a position, including schooling. These positions will be posted with all other job openings. The city does not employ 13- to 15-year-olds, but instead suggests they look into volunteer work.

Volunteering with the City:

Volunteer your time and talent to a wide range of programs.

Working with the Fire Department or Emergency Medical Services:

The Virginia Beach Fire Department handles applications for both volunteer and career positions. Please check back often on their website for updates.
