Mayor's State of the City Addresses

The Hampton Roads Chamber hosted the Virginia Beach State of the City Luncheon on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th Street.

The Honorable Robert M. "Bobby" Dyer shared recent successes and provided a glimpse of the City’s future. He noted that in the most recent citizen satisfaction survey completed in November 2019, 93% of respondents said that Virginia Beach is a good place to live. Nine in 10 are satisfied with City services overall and nearly eight in 10 believe they receive a good value for their tax dollar.

Much of his talk highlighted the incredible compassion and commitment that people here show to those who are hurting and in need following the 5/31 tragedy. "We are forever changed," he said.

The Mayor's presentation included videos featuring the community's response after 5/31; the entrepreneurial spirit of business owners; the City's latest tourism marketing campaign featuring the voice and music of Pharrell Williams; and Capital Improvement Program projects taking place in every district of Virginia Beach.

The State of the City Series connects the community and provides valuable insight on issues impacting businesses and the region.  These events have become the preferred forum for elected officials and mayors to communicate with their constitutes and are often sold out events.
