Ride your bike through the Holiday Lights at the Beach for FREE! Sunday, Dec. 10 is Conte’s Bike Night so grab your beach cruiser, decorate it with tinsel and holly and head to the Boardwalk to ride through the Holiday Lights from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Children will select their favorite bike, and that person wins a Conte’s gift certificate. All ages may participate. Everyone must ride a bike. The event is not for pedestrians and it is not a race, simply a fun ride. Ring in 2018 at Last Night on the Town
Celebrate the arrival of 2018 with a festive “Last Night on the Town” New Year’s Eve event in Town Center, hosted by the Central Business District Association.

This year’s headliner is 10,000 Maniacs. They are one of the most critically acclaimed alternative rock bands of the last three decades, with hit singles including, “Candy Everybody Wants” and “These Are Days.” They’ll be performing at the Countdown Stage on Columbus Avenue — the hub for the evening’s festivities and live music.

The 5th annual Last Night on the Town will begin with a family-friendly celebration at Pembroke Mall, which will then continue through the night with entertainment at Town Center, culminating with a live performance by 10,000 Maniacs at Countdown Stage, a laser light show, and the big ball drop!

All activities and entertainment are free and open to the public. Food and adult beverages will be available for purchase in the heart of Town Center.  Take advantage of free parking in the Town Center garages, with overflow parking available at Pembroke Mall. Free Admission Days at Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)

Sandler Center Holiday Performances

Sandler Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating the holiday season with a festive line-up of events including performances by Tidewater Winds, Virginia Beach Chorale, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Virginia International, Virginia Arts Festival and Symphonicity.   

  • Saturday, Dec. 9: Virginia Beach Chorale performs warm and cheerful tunes for “The Star and the Sleigh: The Two Sides of Christmas” 
  • Sunday, Dec. 10: double performance by Virginia Symphony Orchestra at 3 p.m. with “Jingle Bell Jam,” part of their PB&J Series, and concluding with “Holiday POPS!” at 7 p.m.
  • Dec. 15-17: Ballet Virginia International’s “The Nutcracker” (four performances) 
  • Dec. 21: Vienna Boys Choir presented by Virginia Arts Festival. 
  • Dec. 23: 35th Annual Handel’s Messiah, performed by Symphonicity (FREE event)
