Virginia MOCA Offers FREE Admission through the End of 2020

The museum has introduced safety measures in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

By most accounts, 2020 has been a challenging year. But, here’s some welcome good news: thanks to a generous donation, admission to the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) will be FREE for the remainder of the year. And, as a part of the reopening kickoff, MOCA is showcasing three new exhibits with a focus on race in America – specifically the Black and Hispanic experience.

For the safety of its staff and guests, the museum has also made changes to policies and procedures in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. MOCA has restricted hours, implemented timed ticketing, and carefully planned social distancing and sanitation practices. Every 30 minutes, 10 patrons may enter the exhibitions where they will follow a set path through the Museum. Visitors must reserve a time slot online before visiting. Masks are mandatory.

Virginia MOCA is open Thursday through Sunday.

  • Thursday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (the first hour is reserved for visitors 60+)
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (the first hour is reserved for visitors 60+)
  • Sunday: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Before booking your tickets visitors must agree to the Virginia MOCA, CDC, and Commonwealth of Virginia guidelines for visiting a museum.
