Fall is the best time to plant trees in the Hampton Roads area and the City Council has a goal to increase tree canopy in Virginia Beach to 45%. Currently the tree canopy of VB is 39%.
In order to reach that goal, it is important to educate our community on how trees directly benefit them and empower tree planting one tree at a time where feasible
TreeTopia is a P&R & Lynnhaven River Now collaboration that will be a fun celebration for all ages!
The event includes:
- 1000 free native tree saplings with planting instructions for attendees to take home to plant - first come first served
- Many tree minded exhibitors sharing information and fun activities
- Fun Picture Boards for the perfect Tik-Tok or Instagram moments
- Musical guests
- Food Trucks
- Tree Planting Demonstration
- Discussions about tree health and how to take care of trees so that they take care of us
- Coastal Nurseries selling trees and other native plants
Tree-mendous Opportunity!!!!
- 12 Trees will be given to 12 tree huggers who submit a haiku describing at least one tree benefit or why are trees important.
- Submissions must be submitted by November 4.
- Winners will be notified on November 5 and you may pick up your tree at the event on November 6 - we will deliver it to your vehicle when you are ready.

You must be able to transport a tree that is 6-8 feet tall so bring a truck!
