The Northampton Boulevard Corridor Area, also known as the Burton Station Planning Area, is one of 12 Strategic Growth Areas identified by the 2003 Comprehensive Plan, adopted December 2, 2003. The City has initiated a process of creating plans for each of the 12 Strategic Growth Areas. Northampton Boulevard Corridor/Burton Station is one of the first Strategic Growth Areas for which a plan will be formulated.
Although there have been plans generated for this area in the past, those plans have not been implemented. The City has selected Urban Design Associates and Landmark Design Group to help guide the process of creating new plans for the Northampton Boulevard Corridor/Burton Station area. Urban Design Associates and Landmark Design Group will work with the City and public to develop strategies necessary to enhance public infrastructure, economic development, and marketing efforts.
The newly created plan will be based on community input and designed to have a high probability of implementation. The plan is also intended to serve as a tool to increase public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the strategic planning policies established for the Northampton Boulevard Corridor/Burton Station Area. A description of the process that will be used to create a new plan for the area is provided to the right.
