About the Park:
World-renowned Mount Trashmore Park encompasses 165 acres and is comprised of two man made mountains, two lakes, multiple playgrounds, a skate park and multi-use trails. The main mountain, now 60 feet high and over 800 feet long, was created by compacting layers of solid waste and clean soil. Recognized for its environmental feat, Mount Trashmore Park features the Water Wise demonstration garden that boasts xeriscaping where you can learn how to create a beautiful garden with minimal water requirements.
The park also features two lakes: Located along South Blvd, Lake Windsor is brackish water fed by Thalia Creek. Fishing is allowed. Located along Edwin Drive, Lake Trashmore is freshwater and stocked with fish. No private boats are allowed on this lake, but fishing is allowed.

Kids Cove:
Kids Cove, an innovative playground designed for children using children's ideas and input, is also located at Mount Trashmore Park. The playground is handicapped accessible and was constructed totally by volunteers and coordinated by the Virginia Beach Jr. Woman's Club. Approximately 4,400 volunteers assisted with the project.
Mount Trashmore Skate Park:
Mount Trashmore Skate Park is an extensive street course flowing from an above-ground, seven-foot deep bowl. Designed and built by Minnesota-based TrueRide, the skate park components are framed with treated wood and completely covered with composite material. It boasts a Skatelite Pro skating surface that skateboarders, inline skaters, and BMX bikers can enjoy.
The new competition-sized vert ramp at Mount Trashmore Skate Park is a massive 13.5 feet tall and 40 feet wide. The vert ramp was also manufactured and installed by TrueRide, in partnership with Murphy Productions.
Free and open to the public, the skate park opens at 8 am daily. Helmets are required and use of other protective equipment (such as pads) is strongly recommended. Abusers will be asked to leave the facility.
Users of the Mount Trashmore Skate Park and Vert Ramp are required to sign in and obtain a skate park wristband. Parents, when you drop your children off, please make sure that you come to the skate park attendant booth and sign in your child. These measures are being instituted to ensure safety and accountability of the skate park users. There is no additional fee to obtain the wristband.
