It will be the biggest and most innovative public library in Virginia Beach. And it’s coming soon.
A joint-use library will be built by Tidewater Community College and the City of Virginia Beach. At 120,000 square feet, the library will be one-third bigger than the city’s Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library. Designed by one of the nation’s leading library architects, it will offer services for everyone – from college students and retirees to youngsters just learning to read.
The project design has begun, with construction expected to start in summer 2010 and the new library to open in early 2012. Serving both the college community and the public, the library will be located at the corner of Rosemont Road and Faculty Drive on TCC’s Virginia Beach Campus.
