SkillQuest participants will exhibit their artwork at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia, 2200 Parks Ave., from Thursday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Oct. 25. This is the fourteenth year that SkillQuest has partnered with the Contemporary Art Center to exhibit the artwork of consumers with developmental disabilities. This year’s exhibit includes more than 500 pieces of artwork, including: paintings, collages, hand-sewn items, clay sculpture and wheel-thrown pottery. On Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m., SkillQuest invites members of the community to join them for a dessert reception to meet and greet the artists. Call (757) 385-4040 to reserve your space. The reception is free, but reservations are requested. The Contemporary Art Center Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for military, seniors and students, and $3 for children ages 4 to 14. SkillQuest is a day activity program for adults with developmental disabilities. It is run by the city’s Development Services Division, which is part of the city’s Department of Human Services.
