Parks Division Partners with the ScoutsPossible Eagle Scout or Gold Award Projects:
Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation/Parks & Landscape Services is pleased to offer Scouts a variety of projects to complete. Unfortunately, we cannot offer the funding that goes along with these projects and we look to the scouts to complete fundraising efforts or ask for donations. Below is a list of sample projects available. If you are interested in one of these projects, or have an idea for something else not listed, please let us know! Bayville Farms Park
Bishopsgate/Middle Plantation Park
Chatham Hall Neighborhood Park (Kempsville Area)
Great Neck Park
- Develop/construct a waterline from shelter #2 to the gazebo (approx. 300 feet)
- Create a nature trail through the wooded area in the rear of the park
Little Island Park
- Beach access-lining with split rail fencing (around #2 restroom facility)
- Dune grass plantings (spring and fall) Plants provided by Dept. of Agriculture
- Palm tree and Fountain grass plantings
Mount Trashmore Park
- Clean up Lake Windsor
- Regrade and seed different areas of the park
- Landscape areas along the new walking trail around the lake
- Renovate the dumpster enclosure near the park office
- Plant trees in and around the lake in predetermined areas
- Concrete pads for trash receptacles
- Construct a set of stairs to gain access to the dumpster
Munden Point Park

Improve the areas surrounding shelters 1 and 3 at the edge of the concrete where the water drips from the shelter roof by installing French drains

Improve the drainage near the canoe/kayak launch area by digging a swale out to the river so the affected area will drain off and make the sidewalk accessible

Renovate horseshoe pits by the ball fields

Replace footbridges by the ball fields
Ocean Lakes Community Park (in coordination with Virginia Beach Little League)
- Parking lot improvements (to include bumpers or barriers to street and fencing)
- Correct a drainage problem around small shelter near playground and near ball field in front of park
Princess Anne Athletic Complex
Red Wing on the Park Neighborhood Park

Woodstock Cove Park
Woodstock Park
- Construct a small retaining wall with landscaping concrete block along a section of roadway in front of the office to direct water flow into the drop inlet. Also, improve the landscaping in the flower bed adjacent to the roadway in front of the office.

- Dog Waste Bag Containers (need additional containers for all parks)
- Planters
- Additional fencing in areas of need
- Tree plantings (Spring/Fall)
- Fencing
- Construct butterfly gardens in larger district parks
- Concrete pads for trash receptacles
