Virginia Beach Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad members, Auxiliary Police Officers and Sheriffs and Volunteer Police Chaplains are exempt from the local vehicle registration (LVR) fee on one vehicle, owned or leased by active volunteers or inactive volunteers with 10 or more years of service. A Declaration for Local Vehicle Registration Fee Exemption Form must be completed and returned to qualify for the exemption. You may submit the completed form to the Chief of Fire Company or Rescue Squad, or Chief of Police or Sheriff or directly to the Commissioner of the Revenue. This declaration will be valid until an amended declaration is filed or other notification is made to the Commissioner of the Revenue.
