Virginia Beach Farmers Market Wins 2009 Parents' Picks Award

Release Date:  Thursday, October 15, 2009  11:30 a.m.

The votes are in and parents in our area agree that the Virginia Beach Farmers Market is a great place for families. “The Virginia Beach Farmers Market continues to be an exceptional venue for families to enjoy festive events and delicious local products” says Melvin Atkinson, City of Virginia Beach rural community coordinator.

“We are delighted to receive the Nickelodeon’s Parents’ Picks Award,” said Atkinson. “We are very excited about the staff being  recognized for their hard work – from the Demonstration Kitchen Garden to the Rural Heritage Center and new programs such as ‘Trick a Trunk’ at our annual Pumpkin Patch Party.”  For example, on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Harvest Fair promises to bring you and your family a day to remember with taste-tempting food samples, farm animals, and more.
