The City of Virginia Beach Department of Agriculture will host the annual Harvest Fair at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market on Saturday, Oct.17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. An average of 7,000 people attend this annual event because folks enjoy the natural setting of the market, the festivities, fun, food, games, animals, contests and much more. “Kids these days rarely get to see farm animals up close so they have a great time in our ‘fun barn’,” said Director of Agriculture David E. Trimmer. “There’s nothing like taking a wagon ride and making crafts in the autumn air. We welcome back those who have been in years past and invite all who enjoy games, crafts and good old fashioned fun.” Kids of all ages marvel at the antique tractor displays, and everyone can take a step back in time by visiting the Rural Heritage Center. The Harvest Fair will be filled with the fun of free make and take crafts, country games and the scarecrow and coloring page contests. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Dallas Band. For a small fee, children can have the time of their lives riding ponies, jumping on inflatable amusements and other activities. Wagon rides also will be available. The Virginia Beach Farmers Market is located at 3640 Dam Neck Road at the corner of Dam Neck and Princess Anne Roads. Overflow parking is conveniently located at the city’s Public Works facility near the corner of Dam Neck and Rosemont Roads. Bring the whole family for a day of fun, food, and entertainment.
