It’s Our Future: Three Information Meetings Scheduled To Present City’s Comprehensive Plan

Release Date:  Thursday, October 8, 2009  11:30 a.m.

The city is ready to unveil its final draft of the Comprehensive Plan update – a document that guides all land-use and development in Virginia Beach. You’re invited to attend any of three public information meetings where city officials will present the proposed plan.

These informal meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss with city officials those planning issues of interest to you. The meetings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on three days at three locations:

  • Thursday, Oct. 22, Bayside Recreation Center, 4500 First Court Road
  • Monday, Oct. 26, Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th St.
  • Thursday, Oct. 29, Creeds Elementary School, 920 Princess Anne Road

The proposed plan can be viewed at www.VBgov.com/compplanupdate. It is also available at all Virginia Beach Public Library locations.

Every five years, the city is required to review and update the Comprehensive Plan. Last year, the city held 12 public open houses to learn what planning issues and goals were most important to residents. City officials also met with interested groups to gather information. The result is the final draft of the Comprehensive Plan update.
