The Permits & Inspections Division of the Virginia Beach Planning Department has an automated inspection scheduling system that allows customers the ability to schedule inspections, cancel inspections, obtain inspection results, and obtain residential release information using a touch-tone phone. This system works for Building, Electrical, Elevator, Gas, Mechanical, Plumbing and Special Inspections. The system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling:

To schedule an inspection, you must call no later than 7:45 a.m. the day you want the inspection. Any inspections called in after 8 a.m. will be available for a next day inspection.

Please note:  Inspection reports are run 5 times a day, 7:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for distribution to Inspectors.  The automated system temporarily shuts down approximately 15 minutes before each report is run to compile the reports, therefore, please do not schedule inspections during these times during the weekdays as your requests will be lost and not completed.  Thank you.
