Citizen Corp Council of Virginia Beach | The National Citizen Corps program was formed by President Bush to foster community emergency preparedness through volunteer efforts and community focus on preparedness. At the request of Mayor Meyera Oberndorf, the city adopted the National Citizen Corps, a program of Homeland Security, in order to compliment the City Council's goals of fostering safety in the community. The Citizen Corps Council of Virginia Beach is being coordinated under the auspice of the City's Volunteer Council and the Safe Community Strategic Issue team to address the following goals: -
Participate in the National Citizen Corps Program -
Foster Emergency Services volunteer Programs -
Coordinate local emergency services educational efforts -
Provide a clearing house for Emergency Services volunteer opportunities -
Foster the goal of "Feeling Safe Anyplace, Anytime" | |
