Local School Collection

Court House Elementary School

Court House Elementary School began as a one-room school called the Hickory Bridge School. In 1921, it became the Princess Anne Graded School and moved into a wooden building across from the Princess Anne County courthouse. This structure burned in March 1931, and a new brick building, completed in November 1931, was named the Court House Elementary School. An addition was built in 1955-56. Originally, the school held classes through the ninth grade; later it ran through the seventh grade. The school closed in June 1988.

The collection consists of photographs of key school staff members, miscellanous groups and class pictures from the school years 1966-1967 and 1973-1974.
